According to reports from the SLFS, a distress call was received at about 3 p.m. on October 21 for assistance along the Roseau Highway.
First responders discovered the two vehicles involved in the accident, a motorcycle and an SUV. Gonzague was located in a nearby drain on the side of the highway. He was transported to the OKEU Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Department of Home Affairs on Monday, October 23, issued its condolences to the family of the deceased police officer. “After enlistment on October 1st, 2018, PC Gonzague formed part of the graduating course of 2019 and served faithfully for a period of four years. He was most recently attached to the Financial Investigations Unit of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force,” the statement read in part.
