outhern Equestrian Alliance President, Choix Melchoir, says the organisation is deeply concerned over the holes dug into the racetrack in Vieux Fort.

The discovery of the vandalism to the racetrack was made on Monday, October 30, 2023, following a successful series of races. The Alliance says it is very disappointed with the actions of the bad actors.

We want to let the culprit or culprits know that we are very concerned about the incident. We don’t know why they will do something like that, especially after a successful event. Whatever bad intentions they have, we want them to stop it,” the President said.

According to Melchoir, the Alliance has no idea who dug the holes. According to him, the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority, which gave them permission to build the track in the area, did not dig the holes. “We have no idea who did it. Nobody among us has any idea.”

Despite the inconvenience, Melchoir said, the alliance will continue hosting races in future. “We will continue our plans to have more horse races in Vieux-Fort,” he said.

Melchoir added that in order for other races to happen, additional sponsors would need to come on board.
