Health Facilities Receive New Equipment

ealth Minister Hon. Moses Jn. Baptiste has announced the delivery of new equipment to the Soufriere Hospital and Gros Islet Polyclinic.

Jn. Baptiste says this latest supply is part of the Ministry’s efforts to deliver quality healthcare to Saint Lucians.

On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, the delivery of a chemistry analyzer was made to the Soufriere Hospital. This device is used to calculate the concentration of different chemicals found in urine and other bodily fluids.

We have delivered to the [Soufriere Hospital] a brand new vehicle, a new chemistry analyzer to deal with their samples in a more efficient way. They will use the vehicles to transport persons from the hospital to OKEU or the St. Jude Hospital,” the Health Minister said.

He also announced that on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the Gros Islet Polyclinic will receive their delivery of new equipment. “A very special vehicle will be given to them. They have really been pleading for a really specialised vehicle and they are going to receive it,” he said.

The Health Minister added that the government is working to deliver Universal Health Coverage. “We are pushing Universal Health Coverage and we are doing what we can and what we must to improve the health of all citizens. Little by little, we must do the best that we can and we are on the ground doing that.”

According to the Prime Minister, the Health and Citizen Security Levy is expected to earn the government an additional $ 33 million in revenue.
