T

he once undaunted Mount Pimard situated in the northernmost tip of Saint Lucia is now earmarked for a bold development project.

Spearheaded by the Atlas Group, the development will be called the “Caribbean Jewel Seven Wonders” and will feature luxury rooms overlooking Saint Lucia’s seascape. The agreement was finalised on November 27, 2023, by the government through Invest Saint Lucia.

The proposed development project comprises seven (7) zones cascading around Gros-Islet’s Mount Pimard. Each zone at the Caribbean Jewel Seven Wonders offers a unique array of high-end amenities and services that include a 480-room luxury resort, over-the-sea bungalows, villas, specialized clinical services, a wedding chapel and what will be the region's first wellness retreat centre by the award-winning international wellness brand, TheLifeCo.,” a release from the Office of the Prime Minister disclosed.

Prospective investors had previously expressed interest in the area, but according to the Prime Minister, neither had come with the funds to undertake such a project. That is until the Atlas Group arrived.

This investor has paid. He has put his money where his mouth is,” Prime Minister Pierre said on the sidelines of Tuesday’s House Session.

This latest investment, the PM said, forms part of the government’s diversification of the tourism product. The goal, he adds, is to mix other forms of tourism, like adventure and health tourism to complement the island’s stellar romance tourism package.

It’s a new type of input into the industry, in that we’re dealing with a lot more health tourism, adventure tourism. This is what the development is going to be. You’d notice the increase in ATVs and electric bikes. People are not coming for the sea only. They are coming for the mountains and the hills and the valleys. A lot of mountain biking is happening and Mt. Pimard is going to be a mixture of health and adventure tourism,” he explained.

The first component of the project is expected to open in 2025.
