The airline is set to enhance its connection by introducing additional seat capacity and up to two daily flights between Miami International Airport (MIA) and UVF, maintaining the consistency established during the winter season.
Lorine Charles-St. Jules, CEO of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, expressed enthusiasm about the increased services, stating, “The introduction of additional services aligns seamlessly with our ongoing initiatives to tap into the expanding US market and enhance airlift to the destination. American Airlines' decision underscores their confidence in Saint Lucia and their unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding service to our valued visitors.”
The highlight of American Airlines' expansion plan is the introduction of a second daily flight from MIA to UVF, slated to operate from June 5 to September 3, 2024. Furthermore, the aircraft servicing the MIA-UVF route will see an upgrade from a B-737 (172 seats) to an A-321 (190 seats), enhancing the overall flying experience.
Effective mid-February to mid-March, the Philadelphia (PHL) to UVF route will also undergo a significant upgrade, transitioning from an A-319 (128 seats) to an A-321 (190 seats).
This expanded capacity, coupled with the additional daily flight, will complement existing services from Charlotte (CLT) and Philadelphia (PHL) to UVF. American Airlines, recognizing its pivotal role in connecting passengers to the unparalleled beauty and warmth of Saint Lucia, aims to facilitate increased accessibility.
Jose Maria Giraldo, American Airlines Managing Director for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, emphasised the airline's pride in strengthening its presence in Saint Lucia.
“With this service, at American, we’re proud to continue strengthening our presence in Saint Lucia, offering our customers up to four peak-day flights to the U.S. Saint Lucia is an important destination for us in the Caribbean, where we’re proud to serve as the leading U.S. airline, with more than 350 peak-day departures to 94 destinations this winter,” he said.
All flights operated by American Airlines to Saint Lucia will feature premium cabins, ensuring a comfortable and elevated travel experience. Departures from MIA to UVF are scheduled at 8:35 a.m. and 10:05 a.m., with corresponding arrival times at UVF set for 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. For the return leg, flights from UVF to MIA will depart at 2:11 p.m. and 3:42 p.m., arriving at MIA at 5:55 p.m. and 7:25 p.m., respectively.
