Hilaire Encourages Fedee to Seek Legal Action

Wednesday, Mar 13

"I

will pay the lawyer for him if he wants,” said Tourism Minister Dr Ernest Hilaire, adding his voice to the increasingly controversial rafting business in Roseau.

Hilaire says despite Fedee’s statements, the Ministry will continue investigating the operations of the rafting business.

The Minister alleges that Former Tourism Minister Fedee misappropriated state funds by investing in a company he has business interests in. Hilaire claims while the money was intended for the Community Tourism Agency, Fedee used the funds for personal gain.

Following that announcement by the Minister, Fedee declared that he would seek legal action. Hilaire says he would welcome that decision.

What can I say? Let him continue to masquerade and see what comes out of it because that's all he is doing. Let him go to his lawyer and ask his lawyers to get my statements removed from the House. And like I told him, I'll help him pay a lawyer - and that's how much I want him to try to get the comments removed,” Hilaire said.

Hilaire asserts that Fedee is grasping at straws for political gain. The Minister adds that once the investigation is finalised, the findings will be published.

I think the more he realises that the possibilities for him and his party are diminishing, the more outlandish he will become in the things he says. All I can say to him is please go to your lawyer and ask your lawyers to seek to remove the comments,” he said.
