Fake Drivers’ Licenses on the Rise; Department Urges Compliance

Friday, Mar 22

T

he Traffic Department has noted an increase in the number of fraudulent driver licenses while conducting usual traffic checks.

The Department is urging citizens to use official channels to obtain their documents before proceeding on the roads. Corporal Avanniel Melville in the Traffic Department says the failure to do so can undermine the nation’s transportation system.

This illegal activity poses a significant threat to road safety and undermines the integrity of our transportation system. Over the past several months, our department has observed a trend of individuals engaging in the production and distribution of counterfeit driver's licenses. These fraudulent documents not only compromise the safety of our roads but also jeopardize the trust and credibility of legitimate licensing procedures,” the Corporal warned.

The Department also urges citizens to utilise the DigiGov platform to apply for licenses online.
