Castries will come alive with an interactive showcase of emerging Saint Lucian artists complemented by selected works of other notable artists regionally and internationally.
Chairman of the Cultural Development Fund, Darwin Guard, invites Saint Lucians to experience the artistic exposition at the Derek Walcott Square in Castries.
“Familiar and unfamiliar - not everything you encounter in the arts will be readily understood and that's perfectly alright; you're not supposed to. You, the patrons, will not merely observe, but you will feel and connect and you'll be inspired. Our language is a bit different. From its genesis, poems will be painted, the underground will speak, books will be songs by women, and life will be in colour,” Guard said
Tourism and Culture Minister, Dr Ernest Hilaire, says the cultural showcase forms part of the tourism package. He notes that local culture will be exported due to its inclusion in the main Jazz experience.
“Ultimately, the vision is that the festival will seamlessly align with the value proposition that our destination presents in the global marketplace…By weaving the fabric of our unique cultural heritage into the festival experience, we offer visitors a glimpse into The Soul of St. Lucia, enticing them to not only explore our shores, but to immerse themselves in our vibrant cultural and creative spaces.”
From May 8th to May 11th, citizens should plan to be at Derek Walcott Square for electrifying live musical performances and captivating artistic displays.
