He says there is a limited number of complimentary tickets available for the 6 matches of the Cricket World Cup, noting that the demand for tickets is extremely high as fans will be converging from all over the world to follow the matches.
“I think every MP is going through the tumultuous jazz period and the ticket demands for Saint Lucia for this World Cup is extremely high,” he said.
The Minister reminds citizens that tickets are on sale at the Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds and they should spare no effort to purchase as many as they would like.
“I think it’s very important that Saint Lucians know that the ticket booth at Daren Sammy is officially opened. I would advise everybody to get their tickets as early as possible.”
With the increased international focus on Saint Lucia, the Minister underscores the importance of sports tourism helping grow the economy. Casimir says he is in support of additional cricket matches being held on-island.
“If there is a space for us to have additional cricket in the region, it would mean having the space for significant economic development. I’m talking hotel rooms, Air BnBs, nail techs and everybody benefitting from an additional regional event. I think the fear is that it’s going to CPL, I don’t necessarily share that view.”
