buildings of the St. Jude Hospital will be completed by the end of June 2024, the Prime Minister says.

The contractor working on these 4 four buildings is Construction and Industrial Equipment (CIE) Ltd and was chosen via Direct Award.

During his rebuttal to the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet claims the government intends to spend $265 million to complete the Hospital.

Pierre, responding to these claims, says the Hospital is being completed in phases. In the initial phases, he says, four buildings will be completed by CIE Ltd. by the end of June this year.

We’ve made it very clear what this government is going to spend on St Jude Hospital moving forward. We are completing four buildings, which will be completed by the end of June - that is what the contractor says,” said the Prime Minister.

CIE Ltd., a local contractor known famously as Rayneau Construction, received a direct award and assured the government that the buildings will be completed on schedule and within budget.

The remaining 8 buildings of SJH will be completed by a contractor who will be chosen following a tender process. Prime Minister Pierre says once a contractor is selected, a quote will be provided to the government detailing the cost of construction.

The remainder of the buildings have gone out to tender. We can’t give a total price unless we get a tender. It’s a public tender. When the tender process is complete, we will get the cost.”

The government secured funding for the completion of the Hospital from a Saudi Fund for Development in the sum of US75million/EC202million.

The two-pronged loan is said to cover the reconstruction of SJH and the rehabilitation of the George Odlum Stadium.

The contractor currently working on the hospital has publicly said that if his bid is chosen, the hospital will be completed as soon as possible.
