According to Frederick, who spoke exclusively with SNO, says the altercation started due to a disagreement between herself and the bus driver, regarding which passenger is responsible for closing the door.
“When we got to the bus stop at the top of Mongiraud Hill, he got down, came and opened the door where I was sitting, grabbed my arm, and told me to get off his bus”, she recalled. “I pushed him away and told him not to touch me. He then grabbed my pants waist and dragged me off the bus, took my bag, and threw it in the grass.”
According to her, other passengers who boarded or disembarked the bus did not close the door. This, she says, angered the driver, who demanded that she be the one to close the door. This is when she added, the driver took those drastic measures. “I sat closest to the door, but that’s not my job. ”, she continued.
Following the incident, she says, the driver has tried to make contact with her. “Upon my return to work, I was told he was there looking for me; he said he’d compensate me. But if I’m, to be honest, I don’t want his money. The matter is in the hands of the police. A medical report was also provided to the police.”
Frederick said she filed a police report and reported the incident to the Gros Islet Mini Bus Association the very same day. She says she will retain legal counsel and take the matter to the Courts.
