Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd. is the contractor completing the rehabilitation of the Caye Manje to Beausejour Road.
These rehabilitations form part of the preparatory works for the ICC World Cup Matches, scheduled to commence in Saint Lucia come June 15th.
CIE Ltd. is focusing on improving the points of entry and exit around the Stadium as thousands are due to descend on the Grounds to enjoy the games.
“What I am doing is the ring road on the exterior of the stadium, but I'm also working on the Caye Manje Road. It just happens to be very timely because the Caye Manje/Gros Islet Road was on the agenda to get done, and it just happened that it fell right in time for the Cricket World Cup,” said Rayneau Gajadhar, CEO of CIE Ltd.
Gajadhar explains that the rehabilitation of the road will be done in phases as the engineers examine the asphalt lain on the new road.
“All we've done is we prepared it properly and we've put in a regulating coat of asphalt on it. We are going to let it sit there for about two months, after which time we will review for any imperfections on it, and then we will come back for the final paving,” he said.
The section of road in the Stadium’s immediate perimeter does not require much attention, and only remedial repairs will be done.
“For the section around the stadium, we're not doing a full reconstruction. We are actually doing some remedial works, especially to the areas which were more damaged, so that they will be completed in time for the Cricket World Cup.”
Remedial works on the Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds include the removal and replacement of the roof, new seats for fans, electrical and plumbing upgrades, a brand new scoreboard, and replacement and upgraded lights, among other changes.
