eturning on-island this week from an extensive CIP-centred tour in the Middle East, Investment Minister Dr Ernest Hilaire will issue a statement on the way forward with the citizenship programme on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024.

Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Deputy Prime Minister, will issue a statement on Wednesday, June 12th 2024 at 8 pm. The statement will be broadcast on the Government Information Service. Dr Hilaire will discuss Saint Lucia’s Citizenship by Investment Programme and we invite all members of the public to tune in for this address,” explained Press Secretary Melissa Paul.

This statement comes on the heels of major reforms taking place in the CIP programme. Last week, Hon. Philip J. Pierre signed the Memorandum of Agreement which would see policies for CIP programmes across the region administer similar policies. Despite Saint Lucia’s delayed signing, the Prime Minister had noted that the island’s programme had all but one policy in place, the application fee and asked for his signing to be delayed to allow the unit to process applications already in the system.

The Prime Minister has since made other recommendations to strengthen the MOA which include increasing the application amount and net-worth of individuals along with a ceiling of passports being sold per year. These recommendations were once policies set by a former Labour administration but were reversed by Allen Chastanet in 2017.
