Police Mourning Death of Retired Officer

Thursday, Jul 11

"I

t is indeed a sad moment and a sad day for the RSLPF given that this occurred on the eve of another police officer's funeral,” remarked President of the Police Welfare Association, Cameron Laure.

On July 10th at about 4:45 pm the Vieux Fort Police Station received a report of a shooting at Dierre Morne, Vieux Fort. Moses Amedee was found deceased with an apparent gunshot injury to the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene by a medical practitioner. At this point, the matter is being treated as a suspected suicide. Amedee was a retired Special Police Constable.

PWA President Laure issued his condolences to the family of SPC Amedee and asked members of the Force to keep the family in their prayers.

I just want to send condolences to his family and to the members of the RSLPF at this time. We ask them to keep the family in prayers strong at this point for each other,” he said.

On Thursday, July 11th, officers had to bury another colleague of theirs, Corporal No. 131 Edmund, who was deployed at the Micoud Police Station.

Laure tells officers to remain strong despite the passing of this colleague and to ensure their duties are carried out diligently.

I want to ask, especially police officers of the South…to be each other's keeper, to recognise illnesses and moments where police officers are not being their old self, and to ask questions and to show empathy,” he said.

Corporal Edmund was sent off with a traditional police burial at the Margaret O’Brien Cemetery in Vieux Fort.
