Tribe of Twel Wins Band of the Year After Tabulation of Parade Points

he Tribe of Twel Carnival Band emerged as this year's Band of the Year, securing the top spot with an impressive 429 points.

This announcement was made by the Chairperson of the Carnival Planning and Management Committee, Tamara Gibson on July 17th where she revealed the results of the Parade of the Bands judging areas.

For Band of the Year: Xuvo Carnival Band took second place with 392 points, Just4Fun Carnival Band claimed third with 371 points, and Fuzion Mas Carnival Band landed in fourth with 347 points.

Tribe of Twel also dominated other categories, clinching the Best Designed Band title with 131 points, followed by Xuvo Carnival Band, which scored 117 points.

The Best Portrayed Theme accolade went to Tribe of Twel's "Wade in the Water," earning 135 points, with Xuvo Carnival Band's "Alien" portrayal securing second place with 120 points.

In the Mas on the Move category, Fuzion Mas Carnival Band emerged victorious with 73 points. Xuvo Carnival Band and Tribe of Twel Carnival Band tied for second, each garnering 72 points.

The Spirit of Carnival award was claimed by Fuzion Mas Carnival Band for their portrayal of "Phantus," amassing 274 points. Just4Fun Carnival Band's "Roar, Rise of a Revolution" followed in second place with 251 points.

Xuvo Carnival Band's “Pred8or” won Section of the Year with 82 points, narrowly edging out Tribe of Twel's "Farewell My Homeland," which earned 77 points.

In the Parade of the Bands Individual Competition, Sharon Tanner of Tribe of Twel triumphed with her portrayal of "Sisters in the Stream, Rituals of Faith and Fellowship." Giovanni St. Omer of Fuzion Mas took second place with his portrayal of "Drogon King of Dragons, Protector of the Realm."

The J'ouvert competition was won by Back in Time with their evocative portrayal of "West Indies Cricket, Our Pride, Our Passion, Our Pain." Meanwhile, Cuthbert Modeste claimed the Ole Mass title with his portrayal of "Jazz on the Square."

The 2024 Parade of the Bands showcased a spectacular display of creativity, talent, and passion, highlighting the vibrant culture and spirit of Carnival.
