A

shooting incident at Wilton’s Yard in Castries has left two people dead and two others nursing gunshot wounds, in what authorities believe may be the latest in a string of retaliatory and gang-related crimes.

Among the deceased is Troya St. Martin, originally of Bexon and a resident of Wilton’s Yard.

The fatal shooting comes just days after the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) reported a reduction in firearm-related crimes over the first half of 2025, compared to the same period last year. The recent violence has triggered renewed public concern and heightened fear across the island.

In a statement on behalf of the RSLPF, Assistant Commissioner of Police Albert Charlery sought to reassure the public that the Force is taking urgent action to curb the surge in violent crime.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force acknowledges the public's concern following the recent spate of gun violence that has resulted in homicides over the past week. We are fully mobilised and committed to restoring calm and public confidence in our communities,” he said.

According to Charlery, the Force has already increased its patrol presence, launched targeted operations, and expanded surveillance measures in key areas. He also emphasised that public cooperation is critical to the success of ongoing investigations and the broader effort to combat crime.

Citizens are encouraged to share information through community stations or anonymously via the Crime Hotline at 555 or the Crime Hotline mobile app.

We extend our sincere thanks to members of the public whose cooperation and timely sharing of information have been instrumental in advancing our investigations,” Charlery added.

The ACP warned that individuals who continue to engage in criminal activity would face consequences, reiterating the Force’s commitment to law enforcement and community safety.

These events have caused fear and concern,” he said. “We remind our citizens that safety and order are shared responsibilities. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is doing everything within its power to ensure your protection, and we ask for your continued vigilance and support as we work to create a safer environment.

ACP Charlery says that investigations into the Wilton’s Yard shooting are ongoing.
