eading into the new year, citizens may experience difficulty in paying their bills.

A press release informed that the Saint Lucia Electricity Services Limited’s Rodney Bay Office is closed until further notice. The utility provider disclosed that this temporary closure is due to the absence of staff members which may result in the delayed processing of online transactions.

Customers may experience service delays with the online processing of service requests and transactions. This is due to the absence of a number of key team members. All options for conducting business with LUCELEC including SurePay and remote options remain available and customers are highly encouraged to utilize these channels. Bill payments, including reconnection payments and inquiries, can be accessed at all SurePay locations island-wide,” LUCELEC says.

The company assured that SurePay payments made on weekdays between 8 am and 4 pm will be processed on the same day, while payments made after 4 pm will be processed the following business day.

For bill balances, customers were directed to call the Automated Account Inquiry Service at 457-4433.

LUCELEC, however, did not confirm whether the absence of its staff members was a result of industrial action.
