New SALCC Principal Appointed

T

he Board of Governors of The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College is excited to declare the selection of Dr Madgerie Jameson-Charles as the Principal under a three-year contract, commencing from August 1, 2023.

With an impressive nearly four decades of experience in education, Dr. Jameson-Charles began her teaching journey with training the esteemed Teachers' College in Saint Lucia. Her educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The University of the West Indies, a Master of Education degree in Education for Employment from the University of Sheffield, U.K, and a PhD in Education, Learning, and Instruction in Higher Education from the University of Otago, New Zealand.

She also holds a Hospitality Department Trainer certification from Education International, American Hotel, and Lodging. Before becoming a part of the SALCC community, Dr Jameson-Charles dedicated over ten years to diverse roles at the School of Education, St. Augustine Campus, University of the West Indies.  Her roles included being a lecturer in subjects such as Fundamentals of Education Research, Educational Psychology, Cognition and Learning, and Health and Family Life Education.

She was also responsible for coordinating the Master of Arts program in Technical Vocational Education and Leadership. Notably, she recently managed the Post Graduate Diploma for TVET Teachers. 

Dr Jameson-Charles has made significant contributions to research areas like transitions, high-stakes testing, youth development, teacher education, and learning and instruction in higher education.

Her prolific writing covers a wide range of subjects, including education, employment, and personal development.

The Board of SALCC is confident that Dr Jameson-Charles' remarkable academic achievements and diverse exposure across various levels of education make her an invaluable addition to the College's journey, especially as it aspires to attain University status.
