EGIONAL: After an almost five-decade history, the once-powerful regional Caribbean carrier, LIAT (1974 Ltd), officially ceased operations on January 24, 2024.

The airline, under administration since July 2020, concluded its final flight two days ago. Shareholders from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Barbados, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines collectively decided to liquidate LIAT 1974 Ltd in 2022.

Although there are plans for a potential revival with LIAT (2020) through a joint venture involving the governments of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St Vincent, and the Grenadines, alongside Nigerian airline Air Peace, the recent closure unfortunately resulted in the redundancy of all staff.
