aw enforcement visited the Corinth Secondary School as part of its Community Policing Programme geared at diverting youth from a life of crime.

Police lectured and mentored scores of students on the importance of goal-setting, adherence to the country’s laws, and respect for authority.

Drawing from their own experiences, including their time as students in various secondary schools on the island, the officers shared their motivations for joining law enforcement. Notably, two of the officers were alumni of Corinth Secondary School.

During the session, students were inspired to consider how they could positively impact society and aspire to become future leaders of the country. The students actively engaged in the dialogue, with some expressing pride in their roles as class leaders. They eagerly anticipated participating in additional school activities and were encouraged to set practical, attainable goals for their future,” the police said.

The officers engaged with more than eighty students on topics such as bullying, the importance of steering clear of gangs and criminal activities, maintaining a positive attitude, and developing critical thinking skills.

The police underscored the importance of working together with the youth to help stop the current crime surge.

Our society must prioritize the youth, recognizing that they represent the future generation of professionals in various fields. We have the power to create a positive impact that steers young individuals away from the sneers of the criminal justice system.”

The police say the youth are the key to a peaceful Saint Lucia.
