A 16-year-old, who is Donal Joseph’s younger brother, is currently in police custody concerning the stabbing death of Donal Joseph.
Family members say Joseph used to threaten his younger brother on numerous occasions. One family member says the night prior, Joseph was detained by Dennery Police for attempting to injure his 16-year-old brother.
“He ran everywhere behind his brother, but at that time, the brother went into his neighbour's yard. The [police] arrested him and they dropped him yesterday morning (Wednesday, Feb. 7th). From yesterday morning, he has been everywhere, saying he's going to kill his little brother,” a sister of the two brothers explained.
She explained that Donal Joseph continued his search for his younger brother into the night.
She says Joseph has been abusing his younger brother for a number of years. These altercations came to a head on the evening of February 7th, when Joseph accosted his brother with a knife intending to kill him. However, the 16-year-old manoeuvred the knife away from him and stabbed him in his torso.
“His brother has been doing a lot of mischief for the past few years now. Basically putting his head in a drum of water to drown him, kicking him, dropping things on his head, slamming things on his head, doing a lot of things. Last night he came out of nowhere with an axe and a knife behind his brother, but the brother had time to pull a knife and stab him,” she said.
The sister says she feels no remorse for Joseph’s passing.
“Honestly, he look for it. I'm not feeling sorry for him. I mean, honest. I'm only feeling sorry for the little boy that's sitting down inside of the cell right now.”
Police currently have the 16-year-old, who remains unnamed, in their custody.
