A reported altercation between a father and his son left the 54-year-old father dead. He has been identified at Ferad Vitalis of Soufriere, and his son has been taken into custody.
This chopping follows weeks of intense firearm seizures conducted by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.
On Friday, March 15, 2024, a police operation led to the recovery of 1 Glock pistol with one 1 magazine containing twelve 12 rounds of ammunition which had been reported stolen in the report received by the CID.
Consequently, Savio Hippolyte was arrested and charged for Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, Handling Stolen Goods and Unlawful Possession.
On Monday, March 11, 2024, officers at the Soufriere Police Station arrested a 34-year-old male in possession of a firearm and ammunition at Fond Benier, Soufriere.
During his arrest, he sustained a gunshot injury. A Smith and Wesson pistol and one (1) magazine containing one (1) .40 rounds of ammunition were recovered on his person.
On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, officers executed six (6) search warrants and apprehended 5 individuals for offences ranging from the Possession of Prohibited Firearms and Ammunition and Money Laundering.
Several houses in Dennery were searched, resulting in the apprehension of five (5) individuals and the seizure of:
- a) Sixty-six (66) rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
- b) Fifty-one (51) rounds of .40 ammunition.
- c) Eight ( 8 ) rounds of 9mm ammunition.
- d) Cartridge cases with one (1) magazine containing thirty-seven (37) rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
- e) One (1) Glock 27 Firearm with an auto sear and fifteen (15) rounds of .40 ammunition.
- f) One (1) AR15 assault rifle.
- g) A quantity of cash (EURO) was also confiscated.
