The Amazon Warriors won the match by 9 wickets at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, marking their fifth attempt, successfully so, to clinch the title in the competition's history.
GAW Captain, Imran Tahir, highlighted the significance of this victory for the Guyanese people. “Look, it's beautiful. It's been a great experience. [I’ve] been playing for this beautiful franchise and for these beautiful people who always come and support us. I am just really grateful to the Almighty,” Tahir said in his victory interview with the media.
The Captain issues thanks to all supporters of the sport, his family, and the citizens of his country for helping them secure this victory. In prior years, Guyana made it to the finals but never secured the cup.
“And also I want to thank my family and all the players' families. They have been on the road with us. It's been a great journey, a very special journey. Also, want to thank Prasanna, he has been working every day. 20 hours a day and giving me all the plans. I am really really grateful to him.”
In the T20 games to be held in 2024, Saint Lucia will be among seven venues for the matches.
