EGIONAL, Jamaica: Gregory Roberts, the individual standing trial for the 2017 killing of 15-year-old Shineka Gray, has been declared guilty.

The verdict was delivered in the St James Circuit Court at approximately 12:35 pm. Following Justice Bertram Morrison's summation around 11:05 am on Wednesday, a seven-member jury deliberated the case.

Shineka Gray, a grade 10 student, was discovered dead three days after her reported disappearance. She was last seen alive in Montego Bay, St James, returning home from a schoolmate's funeral. Gregory Roberts and his co-accused, Mario Morrison, were apprehended in connection with the crime. In September 2022, Morrison pleaded guilty, struck a plea deal with the state, and received a life sentence a month later.
