This allowance is for the purchase of new classroom materials to aid teachers in providing quality education for students. This initiative, first announced in the Prime Minister’s Budget Address, will be coming to fruition before the reopoening of schools in September.
Teachers themselves have voiced their gratitude for this increase, highlighting the advantages. “It was about time; it will benefit the kids a lot and it will help the teachers”, one teacher said. “To not only keep it, but increase it is very commendable”, another highlighted.
This initiative forms part of the government’s commitment to providing education for all students. Education Minister, Honourable Shawn Edward, has announced the continuation of the one laptop per child programme, recently revamped by the SLP Government.
