As of August 8, 2023, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has achieved noteworthy success in seizing illegal firearms and ammunition.
A total of sixty-one firearms have been confiscated, comprising:
- Forty-four pistols.
- Three assault rifles.
- Two revolvers.
- Four shotguns.
Out of the firearms confiscated, eight belong to the non-lethal category, including flare guns, air rifles, and imitation firearms.
In addition, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has seized five hundred and sixty-six rounds of ammunition, which break down as follows:
- Three hundred and eighty-eight 9mm rounds.
- Twelve shotgun rounds.
- Sixty-three .380 rounds.
- Eight 7.62 rounds.
- Twenty 5.56 rounds.
Furthermore, sixty-four pistol magazines, including five extended magazines, were confiscated. Additionally, five auto sear (selector switches) were recovered. An auto sear is a component used to convert a semiautomatic pistol to a fully automatic pistol.
